Abstract

1,100,920. Valves. SAMUEL BIRKETT Ltd. 15 Sept., 1966 [3 July, 1965], No. 28264/65. Heading F2V. A safety valve loaded by a spring (not shown) has a conical seat which has been acidetched and coated with P.T.F.E. over the surface " X." The valve member 3 has a correspondingly coned closure surface with a groove 4 which houses a plastics or rubber sealing ring. The groove may be of dovetail section and the ring of " H "-section positioned as shown. Roughening or other preparatory treatment of the surface " X " may be employed instead of etching. A loose ball B is interposed between the valve member and a carrier 7.
