Abstract

1,099,212. Photographic processing apparatus. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Feb. 4, 1965 [Feb. 6, 1964], No.4877/65. Heading G2A. In a sheet film processor comprising a series of adjacent tanks 10,..., 13 film sheets 16,..., 19 are inserted by pairs of driven rollers 25,..., 29 mounted on a movable frame 24 above the tanks. After the sheets 17,..., 19 have been in the tanks the required length of time, they are raised by supports 22 which form part of a motor driven rack 21, grasped by the roller pairs 26,..., 28, deflectors 31 guiding any skewed sheets into the nip of the rollers. The frame is then moved to the right by an eccentric drive 38. The rollers are then reversed so as to deposit the sheets in the next downstream tank, sheet 16 being fed by the rollers 25 into the tank 10, and the frame is then returned to its original position. The drive means for the rack, rollers and frame are sequentially operated through a timer 41. The last wash tank 13 is provided with a circulating pump P, and similar circulating means may be provided for the other tanks. In another embodiment Fig. 3 (not shown) for processing film of lower density than at least one of the processing liquids, a second pair of continuously rotating rollers (60) is provided within the or each appropriate tank, an adjustable support (62) being provided at the bottom of the or each tank so that when the film is immersed, it takes up the position of Fig. 4 (not shown). The film sheets of this embodiment have thick code marks (47) at one end, and to accommodate these, only one roller of each pair (25'),..., (29') is driven, the others being adjustably mounted. One roller of each pair, including the pair (60), contains a permanent magnet, the other an induced magnet so that the rollers readily grasp the film after being pushed apart by the marks (47). Modified drive means (52-57) are provided to drive the rollers (25'),..., (29') continuously. A loading rack (70) is provided for the film sheets (44), a gate (73) opening when the frame (24') is in its receiving location so as to feed the sheets to the rollers (25').
