Abstract

1,098,451. Bearings; oil seals. INA NEEDLE BEARINGS Ltd. Feb. 10, 1965 [Feb. 21, 1964], No. 7359/64. Headings F2A and F2B. In a needle bearing a cage is axially located by means including a closure member 13, the member comprising a resilient sealing ring 20 fixed to a reinforcing ring 21, the sealing ring fitting an annular recess in a race and having a lip 28 engaging the raceway. In Fig. 2 a rounded portion of ring 20 enters the recess which has a frusto-conical base 27. The ring is cut away at 29 to make lip 28 outwardly deflectable. In Fig. 3 (not shown) lip (36) is inwardly deflectable and in Fig. 4 (not shown) adjacent lips (41, 42) are deflectable in opposite directions. Sealing ring 20 is of synthetic rubber or nylon and moulded partly or wholly around metal ring 21.
