Abstract

1,2 - Diaryl - 3,5 - dioxopyrazolidines of the general formula <FORM:1098160/C2/1> wherein R represents a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic residue with 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and Ar1 and Ar2 represent phenyl groups which may be substituted with a single or several alkyl or alkoxyl groups with 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or with a single or several halogen atoms, having anti - inflammatory effects, are prepared by reacting derivatives of 1,2 - diaryl - 3,5 - dioxo - pyrazolidines of the general formula <FORM:1098160/C2/2> wherein Ar1 and Ar2 are as defined above, with organometallic agents of the formula RM, wherein R is as defined above and M is a magnesium-halogen group or lithium and decomposing the resulting intermediates with water or an aqueous solution.
