Abstract

109,768. Brooks, B. June 15, 1917. Saddles and seats for motor-cycles, cycles, &c., comprising a rigid top 6, a base bracket 1, a rigid lever 3 pivoted at its forward end to the front of the base bracket and at its rear end to the seat top, a spring 7 between an intermediate point on the lever and the forward portion of the top, and springs such as 8, 9 for supporting the seat at the rear, have the depending thrust-rods 10 for operating the rear springs hinged at their upper ends to the seat top at the back thereof. The rods 10 are formed by the limbs of an inverted V-shaped member, the cross-bar 11 of which turns within bearing-sleeves 12 fixed to the underside of the rear portion of the top. Instead of the rear springs being of the compound tension and compression type, they may be of the simple tension or compression type, or of any other kind operated by the thrust-rods.
