Abstract

1,097,454. Embossing surfaces. P. WHYMANT. May 23, 1966 [May 21, 1965], No. 21526/65. Heading B6C. An embossing die for treating leather is made in a mould from a suitable unmodified liquid epxoy resin to which has been added a reinforcing medium such as powdered aluminium or glass fibre and suitable hardeners. The described method consists in laying out upon a flat support within a mould a master pattern to which is applied an initial gel coat of a thermosetting resin reinforced with aluminium, this coat being the take off of the pattern. To the coat is successively added further layers of a resin mix, the mix which is to form each layer being degassed, preferably by means of a vacuum jar, before pouring into the mould. The same resin mixture is used for the layers and the initial coat.
