Abstract

Flat articles having on >=1 of their faces a film of thermoplastic or thermosetting material, e.g. laminated wood panels, are produced by (a) placing the article between two plates, the article having the material in the liquid state on its face to be treated, (b) deforming the plate placed opposite the face to be treated so as to apply onto the material a pressure following a line crossing this face and (c) extending progressively from this line up to the periphery of the face, the zone of the face subjected to the pressure. Process enables large sized flat articles to be produced with a plastic coating having a surface free of air bubbles.
