Abstract

Compositions comprise a blend of (A) a polyethylene of weight average molecular weight lying within the range 90,000 to 150,000 and having a Q value between 3 and 5 and a melting point in the range 128 to 135 DEG C., and 10 to 40 weight per cent of (B) a polyethylene having a weight average molecular weight below 17,500, a density of at least 0.97 gm./cc. at 23 DEG C. and a melting point in the same range as that of polyethylene (A). The blends may be prepared by mixing at elevated temperature, and may contain conventional additives such as stabilizers and antioxidants. The Q value is the ratio of weight average molecular weight to number average molecular weight.
