Abstract
1,096,813. Transistor switching circuits. MINISTRY OF DEFENCE. Nov. 10, 1965 [Nov. 10, 1964; March 23, 1965], Nos. 45703/64 and 12316/65. Heading H3T. [Also in Divisions G1 and G4] Gating circuits (Fig. 4).-A negative-going signal applied to R52 is transmitted to the line 55 provided it occurs after a positive signal is applied to R53. With no signals applied to R52 or R53, T29 is off and T30 is on. If the negative signal is applied to R52 when no signal is applied to R53, T29 is switched on, and the voltage on line 55 is limited to that developed across T29 and the non-linear diode D12. If then a signal is applied to R53, the current drawn thereby is smaller than that through D12 and so has little effect on the voltage on line 55. If, however, the positive signal is applied first, both T29 and T30 are off so that when the negative signal is applied to R52, it appears substantially unattenuated on 55 since the leakage current through T29 is small. Comparator circuits (Fig. 3).-The signals applied " FROM T8 " and " FROM 16 " are compared by feeding them to transistors T23, T24 respectively, the bases of which are pulsed alternately by interlaced pulse trains on lines A and B. The A.C. signal thereby developed across R40 is indicative of the difference between the applied signals and so long as this is large enough to make T26 and D9 conduct alternately. Conduction of T26 makes T27 conduct to transmit pulses " TO Q1." When the signals are substantially equal, T26 does not conduct, and no more pulses are transmitted " TO Q1." After 20 msec. a signal " FROM 21 " enabling T23, T24 and T27 ceases and a signal " FROM 20 " which has been delayed by the network C1, R38, R39, T20 enables T21, T22 and T28 so that signals " FROM 18 " and " FROM 40 " can be compared in the same way to control pulses applied "TO Q1."
