The invention relates to apparatus in which a marking on an input line is repeated, on a one-to-one basis, to an output line and wherein if more than one input line is simultaneously marked that output line of nearest " order " to a previously marked line is marked in preference to any other. The apparatus consists of what is effectively a closed chain of bi-stable circuits each of which corresponds to one input and one output line, that bi-stable associated with the last marked input line being " set " while all the others are " reset ", Logic circuitry including AND, OR and Inhibit gates is included in the chain for causing a newly marked line to set its bi-stable and reset the others and for ensuring that only one bi-stable is set in response to simultaneous markings. The bistables may comprise transistors, cold cathode tubes or relays.
