Abstract
1,096,538. Curving. BAU-STAHLGEWEBE G.m.b.H. March 22, 1965 [March 21, 1964], No. 12016/65. Heading B3E. [Also in Division F2] Concrete pipes which have an enlarged socket at least at one end (Fig. 1, not shown) are reinforced by mats comprising networks of longitudinally and transversely arranged rods 5, 6 joined at their intersections. An apparatus is provided consisting of three mutually contacting rollers 15c, one of which at least is driven, through which the mat is passed to bend it to the required shape. To accommodate the enlarged socket of the pipe some of the longitudinal rods are unconnected by transverse rods and they are bent as shown in Fig. 6, the rollers being shorter than their axles 16 to accommodate the bent ends. The rollers may be roughened, e.g. by fluting or grooves and may be of, or surfaced with, rubber or plastic.
