Abstract

1,096,499. Immersion pyrometers. BETEILIGUNGS - UND PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Dec. 16, 1965 [Dec. 17, 1964], No. 53486/65. Heading H1K. The temperature of molten metal is determined by projecting a temperature sensitive device into the melt in a predetermined trajectory and recording the temperature by suitable apparatus connected by cable to the device. The device is initially held by a device from which it is dropped or propelled into the melt, with the cable paid out from a spring biased reel. The preferred temperature sensitive device is an immersion pyrometer consisting of a thermocouple 1 inside a carboard tube 6. To the leading end of the tube is attached a distance rod 4 with a weight 3 at its end. The tube may be provided with stabilizing fins 9.
