Abstract
1,095,590. Windscreen wipers. J. COUGET. Nov. 21, 1966 [Nov. 25, 1965], No. 51985/66. Heading A4F. A wiper for cleaning a window 1 of a vehicle comprises a wiper blade 5 attached to a weight 4 which is arranged to move dependently upon forces caused by movement of the vehicle so as to cause the wiper blade 5 to sweep over and clean the window 1. The weight 4 may be supported by rollers 6 or the like on a guide rail 3 which is mounted parallel to the window 1 by suction cups 2 or screwed supports or clips so that movement of the weight 4 due to movement of the vehicle causes movement of the blade 5 in a direction parallel to the rail 3. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the weight (12) may be pivotally mounted by a pin (11) and suction cup (2) whereby arcuate movement of the blade (5) due to movement of the vehicle can be effected, the weight (12) being urged by a spring (14) to a position vertically above the pin (11). The wiper blade 5 may be so attached to the weight 4 that it is caused to move only after an initial movement of the weight 4.
