Abstract

1,094,841. Rollers. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. April 21, 1965 [April 29, 1964], No. 16831/65. Heading F2U. A roller for centring an elongated strip, such as a woven metal belt 2 which may have raw edges, comprises a hollow or solid member 10 with end flanges 12, forming a wear zone for the raw edges, and a rubber or rubber-like covering 14 having slots 16, 18, 20, the adjacent parts of the flanges and covering forming a continuous surface. The covering 14 may have a cylindrical central portion with tapered end portions co-operating with tapered flanges or with cylindrical end portions and tapered intermediate portions co-operating with cylindrical flanges or the covering and flanges may form a continuous crown.
