Abstract

1, 094, 416. Gauges for footwear. G. B. BRITTON & SONS (HOLDINGS) Ltd. Oct. 6, 1966 [Sept. 7, 1965], No.38101/65. Heading G1X. A device for gauging the size of a foot with a view to determining whether a particular shoe is likely to be a good fit, comprises a sheet of material such as paper or cardboard having an outline 13 of a foot printed or impressed thereon, and perforations or markings defining tabs 14, 15, 16, 17 which may be bent up and secured to separate side pieces 18, 19, 20, 21 to form a shallow gauging mould. A growth line 22 may be marked across the toe to indicate growth that can be expected in the case of a child's foot over a period of six months. Preferably the gauge is incorporated in the base or lid of a shoe box though it may be formed of a separate card contained within the box.
