Abstract

In an injection/blow-moulding process, hollow articles of organic plastics material having a neck opening are made by injection-moulding a parison, with one open end and a neck portion at the other, removing the parison to a blowmould, and blow-moulding it while confining the neck portion to retain fluid-pressure and then removing the confining-means from the neckportion. The confining means may be a neckring and may be internally threaded so as to form a thread on the exterior surface of the neck-portion from which it may therefore be unscrewed. The parison may be formed on a blow-core, e.g. by passing the plastics material through the neck ring into the parison die cavity, which may transfer it and the confining-means, the latter at least partly magnetically from the parison die to the blow-mould. The confining means may be removed after blowing, cooled, and is preferably returned to the parisonmoulding die. The neck may be punched through to form the neck opening. Two neck rings may be used, one disposed in the parison die while the other is in the transfer position.
