Abstract
1,094,048. Weighing. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Aug. 3, 1966 [Aug. 4, 1965], No.33301/65. Heading G4H. A weighing system includes a body movable in a path leading to a station, an inductive coil movable with the body and switch means connected in a circuit to the coil operable in dependence upon the weight of the body to vary the electromagnetic inductive condition of the coil and means at the station responsive to the said condition of the coil when the coil is in the proximity thereof to produce an indication of said weight. The body may be a skip in a mine shaft (the path), the station being at the shaft top, and the weighing being to determine if the skip has been substantially fully unloaded. The coil selectively alters the coupling between two further coils at the station. As a modification there may be a plurality of switch means inserting respective capacitors in the circuit of the first coil to vary the tuned frequency thereof to indicate the weight, or there may be a plurality of first coils, with respective switch means.
