Abstract
In a projectile fuze (see Division F3) a safety delay is imposed by a body of material which resists deformation until pressure has been applied to it for a given time. The material is made from a mixture of a rubber-forming silicone, a catalyst such as benzoyl peroxide, a filler such as powdered silica and possibly a colouring agent. An additional substance, such as mercurous oxide, may be included to reduce the rate of deformation.
