Abstract
1,093,610. Ignition systems. R. DIENER and J. LEUPPI. June 30, 1966 [June 30, 1965], No. 29492/66. Heading F1B. A control pulse is fed to the control electrode of a switching diode 14 when the make-and-break contacts 26, 27 open, the control pulse rendering the switching diode conductive so that a pulse is produced in the ignition transformer, the make- and-break circuit containing a barrier device 32 to prevent any flow of current through the primary winding of a pulse transmitter during a period of contact between the make-and-break contacts which period is not less than the period of contact before one rebounds from the other, thus preventing any control pulse from being produced as a result of opening of the make-and-break contacts as a result of a rebound. As shown when the ignition switch 2 is closed, the oscillator 3 is started and capacitor 13 is charged up. When the contacts 26, 27 open a pulse is produced in the winding 21', which is fed to the control electrode of the switching diode 14 which conducts so that the capacitor 13 delivers current to the primary winding 15 to produce the spark. During the short period when the contacts 26 and 27 touch one another before rebound the capacitor 22 acting as a delay capacitor cannot be charged to the voltage required to drive current through the Zener diode 24. In a modification a transistor is included in the primary circuit of the pulse transmitter.
