Abstract

1,093,541. Indoor games. YISSUM RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CO. Nov. 12, 1965 [Feb. 1, 1965], No. 4376/65. Heading A6H. [Also in Division G5] A game intended to promote a knowledge of chemistry comprises a board divided into spaces, some of which carry symbols of chemical elements, and a number of pieces corresponding to the elements. Using means operated by chance, the players in turn eventually select a number of elements and then seek to combine them into molecules or even to compose chemical equations. To vary the game, the spaces on the board which do not carry chemical symbols carry order cards, e.g. "miss one turn", and a system of monetary rewards and penalties may be devised. Fig. 1 shows a design of board based on the Periodic System of classification of the elements, the spaces a-p carrying order cards. As shown in Fig. 12, the means for indicating the space to which a piece is to be moved may comprise two dials A and B or A and C, the dial A indicating the period in the Periodic System and the dial B or C indicating the position in that period. The pieces are preferably designed so as to distinguish metals from non-metals and to facilitate the formation of molecules by joining suitable atoms, Fig. 13<SP>A</SP> shows a suitable arrangement, but others are described also (Figs. 14 and 15, not shown). The game may include supplementary boards (one for each player) on which the selected atoms may be temporarily stored.
