Abstract

1,093,482. Fusible cut-outs. EDWARD WILCOX & CO. Aug. 17, 1964 [May 17, 1963], No. 19620/63. Heading H2G. A cartridge fuse has, on the outside of the cartridge tube 10, to indicate the condition of the fuse, a thin metallic ribbon 12 which is connected to the end caps 11 of the cartridge tube during assembly in parallel with the main fuse element. The cartridge tube 10 is of paper or ceramic material and may have a base coat of lacquer on which the metallic ribbon 12 is deposited either directly to form the shape required, as by vacuum deposition of aluminium, or by being etched from a metal film formed on the outside of the cartridge tube 10. The centre 12a of the metallic ribbon may be waisted. A colour may be provided under the metallic ribbon so that it is exposed when the ribbon fuses. The metallic ribbon may be protected against physical damage by a covering of transparent lacquer, film or tape.
