Abstract
109,309. Rofe, H. J. Sept. 9, 1916 Pneumatic.-Relates to air-guns of the kind in which the spring is compressed by a hand-lever, and consists (1) in forming the breech-end of the barrel with a coned seating for the head of a sliding and rotating breech-bolt which is locked by a turning movement, and (2) of means for adjusting the initial compression of the actuating-spring. In the construction shown, the rear end of the air chamber D, which is arranged beneath and parallel to the barrel B, communicates with the barrel by a passage d and a recess b<2> in a bridgepiece b. The head of the breech-bolt C is conical and ground to make an air-tight fit in this bridgepiece. The spring F is put under initial compression by means of a screw plunger d<2> screwing into a plug d<1> which forms the front end of the air chamber. The cocking-lever may be adapted to fit into a recess in the.fore-end of the stock.
