Abstract

1,092,092. Jointing by stamping. ROTOLIN BEARINGS Ltd. Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 3, 1963], No. 30880/63. Heading B3Q. [Also in Division F2] A retaining ring 10, for restricting axial movement of a cage or rolling elements of a bearing, is initially of shallow dished form with a circular hole, the inner edge face 12 of the ring being tapered and the outer edge face 14 being cylindrical. When the ring is flattened (Fig. 3) the inner edge face 12 becomes cylindrical and the outer edge face 14 tapered, and the ring is thus secured in a frusto-conical undercut. The ring is formed (Fig. 4, not shown) from a flat metal sheet by a tool which cuts a circular hole and depresses and cuts out the area around the hole.
