1,092,053. Roller skates. DOWTY SEALS Ltd. Dec. 7, 1965 [Dec. 18, 1964; Aug. 17, 1965], Nos. 51662/64 and 35214/65. Heading A6D. [Also in Division F2] In a ball or roller bearing, one of the races has a resilient portion, having a projection or projections, thereon which facilitates the assembly of the bearing, the dimensions of the balls or rollers and the dimensions and construction of the races together with the positioning of said projection or projections being such that a limited amount of axial movement of the balls or rollers and thus of one race with respect to the other, is afforded. In an embodiment, a wheel 1, Fig. 1 of a roller skate has mounted therein two ball bearings 5, each of which has an inner race 10 with a continuous peripheral projection 11 thereon, and has an outer race 3 which is received in the base of the wheel 1. In assembling the bearing, the outer race 3 is disposed about an upright mandrel (not shown), the balls are positioned, and the inner race 10 is snapped into place past the balls. In modifications, the inner races are integral, the outer races are integral, and the outer races are integral with the wheel. In another embodiment, the bearing is used for a conveyer roller and is modified to receive axial thrust, the inner race being provided with a radiallyoutwardly directed end flange at its inner end and a tubular extension at its outer end.
