Abstract
1,091,147. Converting. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 25, 1965, No. 50160/65. Heading H2F. [Also in Division H5] The ends 4a, 4b of a bifilar coil 4 are connected to a D.C. source 1 through thyristors 5a, 5b which are fired in turn by a pulse source 7. Terminals 3a, 3b are connected together and form in effect the centre-tap of a single-wire coil having two spatially-coincident halves. Current flows through both halves in series to produce magnetic fields having the same direction. A square wave of more or less sinusoidal total operational current is produced across the inductor 4.
