Abstract

1,091,005. Pressure suits. FRANKENSTEIN GROUP Ltd. Aug. 23, 1966 [July 13, 1965], No. 29567/65. Heading A3V. In a combined partial-pressure and anti-G suit, for wear under e.g. a flying overall or immersion suit, which includes two independently controlled systems of inflatable bladders, the partial pressure system is applied to all areas of the suit except the inner sides of the sleeves, the seat portion and the -knee regions and the anti-G system is superimposed thereon over the lower half of the body. The suit is made of nylon or polyethylene terephthalate with elastic underarm gussets A and adjusting laces B and is closed by sliding fasteners I, C and O. The partial pressure bladder D extends down to leg bladders K and communicates with a back bladder E which ends at the waist and with arm bladders N. The bladders K are shaped to leave the knee L free apart from a connecting strip at the outer side. The sleeve bladders N extend over the outside of the arms and are waisted at the elbow. The bladders comprise fabric layers F and G (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) and are fed with oxygen at H. Anti-G bladder P partly overlies the bladder D and communicates with leg bladders S which extend down the outside of the leg and are waisted at the knee. The anti-G bladders are inflated with air supplied through a pipe R. A slide-fastened fly opening T has a further bladder U located directly behind it which communicates with the bladder D.
