Heading F2Q In a Genevadrive mechanism for imparting; intermittent rotation to a work handling rotary table 3 wherein the star wheel is driven, through its slots 12, by a roller 11 rotatablymounted on pin 10<SP>1</SP> connected to a disc 10 fast on a shaft 4 driven through reduction gears 5, 6, 7and 8 by a two-speed electric motor 9, the motor 9 is controlled by a cam-operated switch 13 (Fig. 3, not shown) such that its higher speed is maintained for at least the entire movement of the roller 11 in driving engagement with the slots 12 (arc X), and its lower speed is used during an independently adjustable dwell period of the remaining movement (arc Y). As shown, the cam-operated switch 13 is controlled by one end of a lever 14, the other end of which carries a roller 16 spring-biased at (15) (Fig. 3, not shown) into contact with a cam 17 rotated by the shaft 4, the cam 17 being cylindrical and having a variable width recessed zone (between points O and II, Fig. 4, not shown) over which zone the switch 13 is switched to operate the motor at its lower speed, the switch and lever carrier 18 being adjustably moved axially along the cam 16 by a screwed rod 21 having a control knob 23 graduated at 24 to indicate the relative roller 16 and cam 17 positions, which extreme positions permit continuous running of the motor at its high speed (line m, m, Fig. 4) and high and low speed running indicated respectively by lines III-II and II-0 (Fig. 4). Alternatively, two relatively angularly movable cam discs may replace the cam 16, the roller lever being axially fixed relative thereto. Spring-biased levers 27, 28 carrying dowels 25, 26 (Fig. 5, not shown) serve to centralize and lock the star-wheel during the dwell periods, the levers being coupled by an extension 28<SP>1</SP> and operated by a second lever 33 which extends from the lever 28 and carries a roller in contact with a cammed portion of the disc 10.
