Abstract

1,090,270. Balustrades. FUCHS G.m.b.H. April 8, 1965 [April 10, 1964], No. 14975/65. Heading E1B. A balustrade comprises an upper channelsection stringer 4, optionally a lower invertedchannel stringer, Fig. 2 (not shown), and hollow rectangular balusters 1 connected to the stringers by self-tapping screws 16 or rivets passing through holes in the webs of the channels into internal recesses 3 in the balusters. A capping, Fig. 6 (not shown) is sprung over the channel 4 to form a hand rail, and a further capping may be sprung over the lower inverted channel. Where the balustrade is inclined a short section 12 of baluster is inserted within the channel 4 under the heads of the screws &c. 16. In modification each baluster, Fig. 4 (not shown), has along its length a flanged opening into its interior. In a modification in which the lower stringer may be omitted each main baluster, Fig. 5 (not shown), is of square external section and circular internal section and receives a reinforcing tube cemented into the floor.
