Abstract

1,089,753. Filter. CROLL - REYNOLDS ENGINEERING CO. Inc. Heading BID. The area of substantially uniformly distributed holes 24 in central outlet tube 17 of inward flow filter aid filter element 15 is substantially 1/3-4/5 the area of cross section of the interior of tube 17, taken perpendicular to the axis. This ensures even deposition of filter aid on, and complete removal of filter aid and residue by backwashing from, filter aid support 16 which support comprises spirally wound wedge wires 26 (Fig. 4) welded to support rods 27. The element 15 is suspended by nipples 14 from the upper chamber of a pressure filter (10).
