Abstract

Dentifrice compositions comprise dicalcium orthophosphate and an alkali metal monofluorophosphate, optionally together with other conventional ingredients. The dicalcium orthophosphate may be anhydrous or hydrated, preferably the latter, and suitably constitutes from 20% to 95% by weight of the composition. The preferred mono-fluoro-phosphate is the sodium derivative, and suitably comprises 0.2 to 2.0% by weight of the composition. The compositions may take the form of powders or pastes, and optionally contain water, a sweetener, a humectant, a binding agent, a sudsing agent, and flavouring; (e.g. saccharin; sorbitol or glycerine; gum tragacanth, Irish moss extract, carboxymethyl cellulose, or a high molecular weight polyethylene oxide; and sodium lauryl sulphate or sarcosinate, respectively).
