Abstract

1,088,663. Oven stoves. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 15, 1965 [Jan. 17, 1964], No. 2149/64. Heading F4W. A cooking stove incorporating an oven chamber, 12 heated by electrical elements 10 in walls 11ais cleaned by air heated to 400- 450‹ C. in a system comprising a pipe 17 beneath a bottom oven plate 27 bifurcated at 25 to give two limbs containing electrical elements 26, said air passing through inlets 18 at the base of the oven between screens 13 and heaters 10 to burn off grease on internal oven surfaces. A plate 20 protects inlet 19 to pipe 17 from ingress of grease, while an impeller 21 driven by a motor 22 circulates the air in the direction shown by the arrows. A filter 23 in pipe 17 traps solid products of combustion and may act as a heatexchanger to cool the air before it impinges on the impeller blades, while a separate heatexchanger 24 is also provided for the same purpose. A lock 37 incorporates a temperaturesensitive element (not shown) and/or a time delay mechanism to prevent the oven door 28 being opened while the air inside the oven is at a high temperature, a vent 29 in top wall 15 of the oven being closed by an electric switch 32 incorporating a mechanical interlock. Further, a switch 36 is provided to ensure that heaters 26 may only be switched on, when the oven door 28 is closed. During the cleaning operation, a bleed of cool air may be directed from the impeller over the outer cooker panels to maintain them at a low temperature.
