Abstract
108,865. Kilian, F. Aug. 15, 1917. Cylinder machines. - In presses for moulding powdered materials, of the type comprising a revolving cylinder 3 provided with radial moulds 9 fitted with plungers 10, the material is compressed against a smooth roller 6 rotating in contact with the cylinder and geared thereto. Material passes into the moulds from a hopper 18 and is subjected to preliminary pressure against an abutment 19 which may be fixed as shown or may comprise a rotating member, the plungers 10 being moved towards the abutment by a roller 12. A roller 13 imparts the final pressure and a roller 14 effects the ejecting-movement of the plungers which are retracted before reaching the hopper by a cam 17 engaging the plunger heads 11. The cam 17 is adjustable at 22 to vary the capacity of the moulds. The roller 6 may have a reciprocating movement about the centre of the cylinder 3; or it may be replaced by an oscillating sector.
