Abstract
1,087,564. Control circuits for heating resistors. PLESSEY-UK Ltd. Nov. 13,1964 [Nov. 22, 1963], No. 46291/63. Heading H2H. [Also in Division B7] Heaters 11 in an aircraft de-icing system are energized from a three-phase supply line connected to a power supply 10 through a switching device 14. A full-wave bridge rectifier network 15 is provided in which the D.C. load is formed by a silicon controlled rectifier 16 or equivalent device triggered " on " by the application of a pulse to its trigger electrode 17 over control line 18 from a timing device 19. There are a plurality of such units triggered sequentially the switch 14 being opened momentarily by device 19 between the sequential application of the triggering pulses. In a further embodiment the heaters are energized from a common D.C. feeder energized from a three-phase feeder through a three-phase bridge rectifier which performs the function of the switch 14 of Fig. 1, the control rectifier 16 only being positioned adjacent the heaters.
