Abstract

108,699. Greenwood, E., and Sharp, A. Aug. 11, 1916. Dough dividing and working machines.-Dough is moulded or shaped by causing a clot to engage the shaped ends of a pair of spindles C<2> which are rotated in the same direction but at different speeds and are moved axially by cams D. The spindles are driven from a driving-shaft B through gearing C' and work through adjustable plates A<1> which regulate the width of the clot. Motion is imparted to the cams D from the shaft B through gearing N<1>, N and a one-revolution clutch mechanism comprising a ratchet-wheel M fast to the gear N and a pawl K<2> carried by the cam and normally disengaged from the wheel M by a stop H<3>, Fig. 4, which is deflected by a rod H depending from a table F, Fig. 2, carried by arms F<1> and supported by an adjustable spring device G. As the clot is wound on the spindles, it depresses the table F and releases the pawl K<2>. The spindles C<2> are preferably of Z-section, as shown. Plates P clean the spindles C<2> and the moulded clot is removed by a clearing-device R mounted upon a shaft R<2> which is rocked, against the action of a spring, by a pin R<4> on one of the cams D acting through a lever R' and gear train R<6>. According to the Provisional Specification, the axial movement of the spindles is affected by a single cam.
