Abstract

Wax coating compositions for coating fibrous sheet material such as paperboard comprise 70-99% by weight microcrystalline wax, 1-30% polyethylene, and 2-40% solid petroleum hydrocarbon resin having a softening point in the range 158-230 DEG F., the percentages being based on the total weight of wax + polyethylene.ALSO:Wax coating compositions for coating fibrous sheet material such as paperboard comprise 70-99% by weight microcrystalline wax, 1-30% polyethylene, and 2-40% solid petroleum hydrocarbon resin having a softening point in the range 158-230 DEG F., the percentages being based on the total weight of wax + polyethylene. The polyethylene may be a wax grade, M.W. 2000-15,000, or preferably a plastics grade, M.W. 15,000-100,000. The resin is that obtained commercially by polymerizing olefin mixtures recovered from petroleum cracking.ALSO:Wax coating compositions for coating fibrous sheet material such as paperboard by, for example, the curtain coating technique comprise 70-90% by weight microcrystalline wax, 1-30% polyethylene, and 2-40% solid petroleum hydrocarbon resin having a softening-point in the range 158-230 DEG F. No disclosures of coating are given.
