Abstract

A stabilized composition comprises a polyether in which the ether linkages are separated by at least 2 carbon atoms and an N-alkylamino diphenylamine (e.g. 4-isopropylamino-diphenyl-amine). The composition may also contain an aryl, cycloalkyl or alkyl phenol. Specified polyethers are polymers and copolymers of butadiene mono- and di-epoxides, glycidyl vinyl ether, glycidyl acrylate, glycidyl methacrylate, vinylcyclohexene monoxide and propylene oxide. Suitable phenols contain one or more alkyl cycloalkyl or aralkyl groups as substituents, the aralkyl groups being preferably hydroxylated; those specified are 4-methyl-2,6-ditertiary butylphenol, 2,4-dimethyl-6-tertiary butylphenol and 2,2-methylene-bis-4-methyl-6-teriary butylphenol. The examples describe the stabilization of polypropylene oxides.
