Abstract

1,085,840. Electric selective signalling. F. M. H. DAHL. Nov. 9, 1964 [Nov. 13, 1963], No. 44873/63. Heading G4H. The change of impedance of an element 20 (Fig. 4) located adjacent each stake zone of a gaming table is tested each gaming round to detect the placing of a metal token in the stake zone. The impedance element may be an in ductance coil surrounding the area or a capacitor comprising a metal sheet divided into two parts by a zig-zag cut covering the stake area. In a first embodiment the variable impedances control oscillators 30 selected sequentially by a stepping switch 34 and the frequencies are mixed 36 with a fixed frequency 32, the I.F. amplified 38 and applied to a counter 40. The stepping switch 34 is started by a rotation sensitive trigger 24 associated with the roulette. In a second embodiment oscillators (122A . . . N, Fig. 5, not shown) associated with impedances (120A . . . N) and with relay activated switches (125A . . . N) are energized in turn through a stepping switch (130) and variations in frequency are detected by a surrounding coil (15) connected to mix (170) with a fixed frequency (172) and pass through a filter (174) which only passes that I.F. corresponding to no stake to operate a relay (200) after amplification (176) such that absence of a stake opens a switch (202) but presence of a stake leaves the switch (202) closed to operate a stake counter (190). The relay (200) also operates a switch (201) which, if left closed indicating a stake, and if this position corresponds to a winning position (138) and operating an associated relay (136) and switch (137), advances a winnings counter (140). The winnings indicator (138A) comprises a disc (4, Fig. 6, not shown) coupled to the roulette (12) and containing coded apertures (5) corresponding to the markings of the roulette disc, and photo-electric cells beneath the disc receive light from a source (7) through the apertures (5) to indicate the winning position. The apertures may be replaced by permanent magnets in coded positions coacting with magnetic switches beneath the disc.
