A moving walkway comprises a belt 1 having laterally spaced rows of longitudinally-spaced ribs 11. The spaces 12 between the ribs may be transversely aligned (as shown), or may be disposed in oblique lines or curves. The rows of ribs pass between projecting fingers 4<SP>1</SP>. The belt may be supported by rollers (5) (Figs. 1, 2 and 4, not shown). Side rollers 10 guide the belt laterally. The belt may be cleaned by a roller (3).
