Abstract

1,085,597. Automatic control of temperature. SWIPORT N.V. Sept. 20, 1965 [Sept. 25, 1964], No.39973/65. Heading G3R. In an automatic temperature control system a temperature responsive resistor 5 is connected with resistors 5-9 in an A. C. energized Wheatstone bridge the error voltage of which is applied through a capacitor 10 to a directly coupled amplifier, comprising transistors 11, 12, 13. The amplified error signal is fed to the base of a transistor 30 having in the collector circuit a relay 31 for switching on and off in an unspecified manner, a heat source not shown. The transistor 30 is energized from a secondary 3 of a transformer through a rectifier 32 and has a resistor 34 in the emitter circuit of a high value so that the collector current is proportional to the voltage applied to the base. The relay 31 has a parallel capacitor 33 of a low value to cause the relay armature to slightly vibrate when the relay is energized. The bridge is energized from a secondary 2 of the transformer. Alternating current degenerative feedback for the directly coupled amplifier is derived from a resistor 24 and direct current degenerative feedback through a filter comprising resistors 25-27 and capacitors 28, 29. In another embodiment, the bridge is shunted by a diode to provide a direct-current component which, through a transistor differential amplifier, energizes an error indicating meter. Thermal feedback is provided by an auxiliary heat-sensitive resistor provided with a heating coil energized through an additional make contact of the relay 31, the combination is chosen to compensate for the temperature coefficient of the emitter-base voltage of the transistor 30.
