Abstract

108,536. Towers, H., and Gibson, W. Aug. 14, 1916. Pressure members in guide-tubes.- Power is transmitted from a slidable rod C at one end of a rigid guide-tube A to a slid able rod E at the other end through balls D, or balls D alternating with rods C. The tube is provided with swivelling joints B, and portions of it may be omitted adjacent to the rods C; the rods C may be supported on anti-friction bearings, and coiled springs may be used to return the parts to normal position. Guide-parts E working in slots may be attached to the end rods C. The provisional Specification states that the device may be used for operating rudders of ships, fanlights, ventilators, brakes, and change-speed gears on autobiles, &c.
