Abstract

[Also in Division F4] A foundry ladle containing molten metal to be mixed, is supported on a moveable framework 4 carried by a plurality of spherical bearings 2 inserted between upper and lower races 5, 3 carried by the framework 4 and a stationary base 1 respectively. The triangular framework 4 and its attached ladle are swung about in an horizontal plane under the action of driving means comprising three sets of cranks, one at each apex, each of whose crank pins 7 are set with eccentricity e relative to their respective crank shafts 6 which are synchronously rotated from a common motor and shaft (13, 14, Fig. 2) through bevel gears 8. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 4) the spherical bearings (2) are carried on a plurality of dish shaped lower races (3) mounted on the stationary base (1), the weight of the ladle and the framework (4) being transmitted through a plurality of disc shaped upper races (5). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,021,825.
