Abstract

1,083,142. Cutting apparatus. PHOENIX RUBBER CO. Ltd. Jan. 10, 1966 [March 4, 1965], No. 9351/65. Heading B4B. In the manufacture of flooring tiles, elastomeric sheet material fed from a roll 2 is divided longitudinally by means of a cutting roller 6 co-operating with a roller 7, the roller 6, which is removable, comprising several pairs of rotary knives having closely spaced cutting edges. Rollers 9, 10 press on the roller 7. A friction driving roller 11 co-operates with a backing roller 12 to draw the material off the roll 2. The pairs of rollers 6, 7 and 11, 12 are spring- loaded together and can be parted by toggle mechanisms 14 operable by a hand-lever 15. The material is fed from the rollers 11, 12 to a device 16 for chopping the divided sheet into lengths, the device forming the subject-matter of Specification 1,083,143.
