Abstract

1,083,078. Conveyers. ALMABAL G.m.b.H. May 19, 1966, No. 22380/66. Heading B8A. A conveyer belt for harvesting machines has a carrying surface made up of transverse slats 5<SP>11</SP> with their ends secured to two side supporting bands 1, 2 wherein a portion 9, a short distance from each slat end 10 is bent at an angle to the central portion 8, the outer portions 10 adjacent the slat ends being bent the opposite way, so that the portions 8, 10 lie substantially parallel to one another, with all the portions 8, 9, 10 in one and the same plane; and wherein the portions 9 are inserted through holes (4), Fig. 1 (not shown), made at right angles to the carrying surface, in the bands 1, 2 with the portion 8 lying on one face and the outer portions 10 on the opposite face of each of the bands 1, 2. The bands 1, 2 are of resilient material reinforced by wires (3). The holes (4) pass through cross projections (6), Fig. 3 (not shown), lying opposite each other on the upper face and underside of the bands 1, 2. The projections (6) also contain transverse grooves 7 which receive the slot portions 8, 10. The slats 5<SP>11</SP> are shorter than the distance between the outer edges of the bands 1, 2 to avoid contact with flanges 12 of driving or guiding rollers 11. The bands 1, 2 are carried on the crowns of the teeth of the toothed driving and guiding rollers, again to avoid contact with the slats 5<SP>11</SP>. The ends of the slats 511 may be bent in various ways and assembled into the bands 1, 2 in various ways. The slats may have extensions (14), Fig. 10 (not shown), to counteract the braking effect of the side casing of the conveyer. The central portions 8 may also be provided with catches-either welded on, like tines (15), Fig. 11 (not shown), or consisting of bends in the central portion itself, like bows (16), Fig. 12 (not shown).
