Abstract

1,082,702. Typewriters. PAILLARD S.A. May 23, 1966 [June 2, 1965], No. 22813/66. Heading B6F. Type - bar machines; portable typewriters; case-shift mechanism and key actions.-In a portable typewriter having a type basket 3, the basket is mounted on a pair of parallel links 5, which during case-shift action are pivoted in a clockwise direction to displace the type-bar pivoting rod 2 to a position 2<SP>1</SP> and in order to reduce the linkage between the type lever 17 and type-bar 1 to a minimum the pivot 21 of an intermediate type action 20 is displaced along a path which is disposed in a plane parallel to the path of the travel of rod 2. Depression of case-shift lever 10 rocks a lever 12 in a clockwise direction, which through a link 25 on the one hand and link 14, gear segments 15, 7, the latter having a cam roller 8 in engagement with a clevis 9 fast with the type basket 3, on the other, displaces the rod 2 and pivot 21 to phantom positions 2<SP>1</SP>, 21. Type action pivot 21 is mounted on a comb guide 22 which is pivotally mounted on a rod 24 and restrained from uncontrolled movement by the link 25 which is articulated at its respective ends to rod 24 and lever 12.
