Abstract

1,082,348. Leno selvedge mechanisms. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. Jan. 20, 1966, No. 2745/66. Heading D1E. A leno-type selvedge mechanism comprises gears 12, 27 which rotate continuously at the same speed and in the same direction and have guide eyes 14, 15 and 29, 30 respectively, the gear 27 carrying a spool 35 having threads 37, 38 which pass respectively through the eyes 29, 14 and 30, 15, the angle alpha between the spools, the pitch circle diameters D and d of the eyes and then angular offset being arranged to a formula which ensures that, at all positions of rotation of the gears, the length of thread between the spool and fell is constant. A second set of gears may be provided which rotate in opposite directions to avoid thread entanglement.
