Abstract

1,081,973. Electromechanical resonators. JAZ S.A. Oct. 14, 1964 [Oct. 14, 1963], No. 42014/64. Heading H3U. [Also in Division G5] The Specification describes a piezo-electric driven mechanical oscillator which consists of a flexible member AA<SP>1</SP>, and additional masses BB<SP>1</SP> attached to the ends of the member. In operation, as the ends of the member flex downwardly the masses are deflected upwardly (Fig. 2, not shown) so that the centre of gravity of the arrangement remains substantially in the same plane. To increase the rigidity of the masses the plate may be ribbed at L and additional masses such as the elements of a vibration maintainer may be added. The piezo-electric crystal may be formed of two crystals suitably glued and polarized to the central axis of the mechanical oscillator (Fig. 9, not shown), having electrodes (e 1 and e 2 ) which may act as an exciter or pick-up element. The mechanical oscillator may be driven electromagnetically instead of piezo-electrically.
