Abstract
1,081,832. Testing by reproduction. ITALSIDER S.p.A. Feb. 3, 1966 [Feb.10, 1965], No.4752/66. Heading G1S. In a method of non-destructive micrographic testing by reproduction a sheet of Sn-Pb alloy is placed against the cleaned surface of the metal to be tested whereby the topography of the piece to be tested is reproduced on the Sn-Pb sheet. As shown in Fig.1, a screw clamp 1 presses the sheet 3 of alloy against the piece to be tested with an interposed protection plate 2. In a modification, (see Fig.2, not shown) three screws 8, 9, 10 are radially disposed on a ring 7 round a pipe or cylinder to be tested, one of the screws being provided with an interposed alloy sheet. Alternatively, the mechanical pressing may be effected using a Brinell hardness testing device.
