Abstract

1,081,807. Narine tubes. BRUNSWICK CORPORATION. May 2, 1966 [May 3, 1965], No. 19143/66. Headings A5R and AST. A narine tube has an internally flared section adjacent the outlet end which is positioned in the patient's nasal passage, whereby the fluid flow from the outlet is of turbulent form and is of reduced velocity, thus substantially eliminating nasal burn. The invention is illustrated with reference to Fig. 1, which comprises a pair of narine tubes 10 and 11 joined to a supply tube 17 and having flared sections 26 and 27 adjacent the distal ends 28 and 29, said ends being held in nares-insertable position by bridge 22. The cross-sectional area of the internal passage may be enlarged six times in said flared section.
