A pedal bicycle comprises a load-carrying device 1, such as a platform, a child's seat, a container, or a commercial carrier, carried by a spine 2 which is push-fittable and manually clampable by a device 10 in a longitudinal bracing member 3 of the frame, the member 3 being supported by the frame at its rear end by means of stays 8, 9. The spine 2 incorporates an electrical contact (not shown) at its front end by means of which a rear light (not shown) is connected to the lighting circuit of the bicycle which is carried within the frame members of the bicycle. Means (not shown) are provided on the carrier 1 which engage the stay 8 to prevent rotation of the carrier.
