Abstract
1,081,103. Tube mills. DANO INGENIORFORRETNING OG MASKINFABRIK INGENIOR KAJ PETERSEN'S FOND. Oct 19, 1964 [Oct. 19, 1964], No. 42592/64. Heading B2A. The grinding shell 1, Figure 3, of a tube mill, e.g. for reducing household refuse or cement; is rotatable, as on rails and rollers 2, 3, about a horizontal axis, is supplied with material to be ground at one end 4, and comprises an outlet end plate 9 provided with an aperture or apertures. The aperture(s) are such that the area for discharging increases towards the central region of the end plae, such that as the height to which the material is filled in the chamber varies the maximum area available above a threshold is less than the area available with a single circular aperture with its centre onthe shell axis and its circumference at the threshold.- Flow through the end plate increases towards the centre, the maximum area being desirably proportional to the volume of material in the shell below said height. As described, the mill may operate with or without grinding bodies, and may be formed of or provided with screen plates and cooperate with an exterior screen so that coarse material may be returned to the grinding chamber. The end plate 9 may include a rhomboid diametrical slot 10, Figure 5, whose size may be adjusted by operation of pivotally-mounted flaps 11 to vary the level of material in the chamber and the rate of flow. Guide members 16, on the inner side of the plate, operate as emptying blades for the contents of the chamber. Further embodiments comprise end plates as shown in Figs. 7, 8 and 9.
